Jenna. Dec 29. Food Art.

In honor of my third (and final) foot surgery tomorrow, I took the kids and met Alicia and Amanda for lunch at Rosa's today. Rosa's tacos are super yummy. And, they serve tortillas and honey with every order. Colby asked Amanda to use honey and draw a picture of a car on his tortilla. I'd say she gets an A for her Tortilla and Honey Art Project.

Jenna. Dec 25. Christmas Day.

Kennedy took that pic and unfortunately it's the only picture I have from my phone of that day. I know Kevin took some with his camera. We spent the day at various gatherings. Breakfast was just the 5 of us at home; we opened our presents, played with our presents, and ate Butter Braids - yum! (Colby's school fundraiser) Lunch was a Christmas feast at my uncle Philip's house with my dad's extended family, and then dinner was [by request] spaghetti and meatballs at my parents' house with my parents and sisters.

The weather turned a little cooler today, so it was nice to sit by the fire and enjoy Christmas in a sweater instead of in shorts, which was what we had been wearing since last week. Although, it was nice to let the kids go outside and play on the trampoline every day instead of worrying about having to pick up their toys inside. Plus, now they have new toys to play with, since it's Christmas!

Jenna. Jun 3. Adjustments.

By now you must know that my grandfather, dad, and sister Alicia are all chiropractors. (The fact that Alicia will be graduating next year is a mere technicality.) This means there are a whole lotta adjustments goin' on in our family. It also means my kids love to play Adjustments, where one of them will say, "Hey, give me an adjustment!" which prompts them to lie down motionless on whatever it is they are playing on - the floor, the bed, the couch, or in this case the dress-up trunk.

Colby was the chiropractor today. My kids lay ridiculously still for adjustments because they know how good adjustments are for their health.

Outside the apartment!

I am woefully behind, but here are a few pictures that I've taken over the last week. On Sunday afternoon, I went home (Bryan) to have birthday dinner with my family. I left straight from church and made it in time for the baseball game Sunday afternoon. These are the coach's sons giving high-5s after the game. They are SO cute! Jace is ~10, and Max is ~5. This is Max's first year to "help" the team, and it's REALLY funny to watch these two fight next to the dugout.

Remember this kid's name (John Stilson). He's our super fantastic closer. In over 20 innings of work this season he's given up only two runs and two hits. He has a 99 mph fastball and a curveball that is unbelievably wicked. I really hope that he stays around for a while, but I have a feeling this is his only season with us.

Aggieland on a beautiful day!

4:00 at the oasis. This was Friday afternoon after class. I am really tired of being white enough to scare small children, so I went to sit by the pool. I'm relieved my toes looked nice enough to make the picture.

This was Thursday. A really really crappy day. I was having a near panic attack about my impending dermatology test, and then left my apartment to go take said test and saw these beautiful clouds. A lovely reminder that God is bigger (and much better) than my little problems.

This poor palm tree looks the way I feel most days: frazzled.

Day..... something or other

i'm behind. let's just pretend those days didn't happen.

this was yesterday morning as i was driving to church. i've never seen this flame so big. i didn't see anything on the news, but i'm really hoping there wasn't a fire or explosion. kristen?

Day 24

pretty clouds over my parents' house.

Day 23

this is my wonderfully neurotic dog, millie. she's staying with my parents while i'm in school. i was at home on saturday and tried to take a picture of her, but it turns out cameras scare her. so does the wind. hence the blurry picture. she's a beagle/lab mix (we think), 4 years old, about 10 pounds overweight, way too smart for her own good, very sweet.

Day 22

i don't think this one needs any explanation. home.

Day 21

these trees make me sad. they have been pruned all over my complex, so it's kind of like living in tim burton's imagination right now. but from what i understand, they'll be back to full glory in the spring.... terrorizing my sinuses just like before.

Day 20

this is my home-away-from-home. much better picture than last week. tonight was the annual "chilly bowl". the cast, crew, choir, and orchestra from our christmas production got together and reminisced about the whole event. they put together some spoof skits of funny things that happened, and we got to see some of the video recording, and we got to hear some of the stories of changed lives as a result of the christmas program. it was a great night.
the building on the outside is nothing really special, but inside it is very home-y. i'm sure i'll post more pictures of this place throughout the year!

Day 17

back in bryan, we used to have a college minister that said, "home is where your underwear is." soooo, here is my underwear's home! this dresser belonged to my mom's brother, and then my mom, and i remember it sitting in my grandparents' house where jenna and i used to sleep when we spent the night with them. then i don't remember what happened to it between my 8th year of life and 22nd year of life, but i've had it for the last 4+ years and i'm really glad i have something from that side of my family. [edit: jenna and i did not sleep IN the dresser. this dresser was in the ROOM in which we slept.]

Day 16

i have decided that i will not allow myself to watch each episode of the Biggest Loser this season until i have been through a workout that jillian would be proud of. sooooo, that being the stipulation, i was already two weeks behind today! but i went to the gym and had a great workout this afternoon, so i allowed myself to watch the first episode of BL tonight. these are my weights, and they are in the wrong place right now due to the massive upheaval of stuff, so i took a picture as a representation of the fantastic workout that i had today. :-)

Day 15

this is what i've been doing for the past two days. not just vaccuuming, but cleaning in general.... and i still have so far to go! the footage of haiti made me really sad yesterday, so i started cleaning out my closet to donate clothes to someplace that would take them, and now i have stuff EVERYWHERE. thank goodness i have the day off of school on monday to finish!!

Day 14

just got some new candles for my bathroom. not sure which picture looks better......

Day 13

it's choir day! i have been attending Houston's First Baptist Church since about February of last year, and i joined the choir in the fall. i cannot even tell you how much i have loved being part of this choir, and how excited i am about what we're doing this year. so tonight was our first rehearsal of the new year, and it was so great to see everyone, meet new choir members, and worship together again. i snapped this picture (on my phone) as i was walking in, so i'm sorry it is blurry and not fantastic, but i was running a few minutes late:

i will try to remember to take a better picture next week or on sunday morning... when i'm not running late. :-)
