First Theme of the Year!

I know I've been really behind on all posting this year. In order to keep this fresh and active, I think we'll have a vote for the next upcoming theme. I'll provide three options, the one with the most votes is the offical theme for the following week, Sunday through Saturday. Does that sound like a deal? Here's our first three options:

Love
Body Parts
Tired

My goal is to start having a theme every other week. You don't have to take a picture for theme every day, only if you want to do so. But I would like you to take a least one picture for the theme that week. Vote in the comments and the theme will be picked by Friday. (And you don't have to post pictures to vote, if you're a lurker, post what you'd like to see!)

Amanda: Day 36. Show Time.

From 2011 365 Project

First Indoor show of the season! Here is my lovely cymbal line running through a part of the show with all their snazy effects.

Amanda: Day 35. Is It Snow? Is It Ice?

From 2011 365 Project
Pasadena, TX.

This was the extent of the snowpacolypse. I couldn't tell whether it was ice or snow, but whatever it was, there wasn't a whole lot of it. Ice did hit Houston hard. Almost all highways were shutdown until at least noon today. Cars were stuck on overpasses where they lost traction because of the ice. It was craaaazzzy. Me? I stayed inside and watched the crazy people on the news.

Amanda: Day 34. Cold Weather Gear.

From 2011 365 Project

The great snowpacolypse is supposed to be upon us. Everything has been closed down for tomorrow across Texas. Schools, works, doctor's appointments. It's crazy. This is the jacket I bust out when the weather takes a turn for the worse. It's a down jacket tht always has a scarf on it and earmuffs in one pocket with gloves in the other. It's fully stocked and ready to wear. Bring it on cold weather.

Amanda: Day 33. Tea Time.

From 2011 365 Project

I've become slightly addicted to chai tea. Sometimes I just get a craving for it. However, I didn't have any of my standard chai tea with me so I caved in and bought the house brand at HEB. DON'T DO IT. It's not the real deal. It will leave you seriously unsatisfied and make you feel like you need to go out in below freezing weather and buy a different brand of chai.

Amanda: Day 32. Through the Windshield.

From 2011 365 Project
Harlingen, TX.

Okay, I'm going to try and cut down on the sunset pictures. But sometimes, I just can't resist. I mean, there's no way you can look at this sky and these colors and not just feel good inside.

Amanda: Day 31. Strength.

From 2011 365 Project
Harlingen, TX.

I joined a gym today. Now I have not one, but two gym memberships. This is gym is in the neighborhood where we live in Harlingen. I figured if the gym is less than give minutes away, there's NO EXCUSE for me to be lazy not to go, right? Me and these shoes...we're gonna get motivated.

Amanda: Day 30. Snares.

From 2011 365 Project
San Benito, TX.

Before Show and Tell on Sunday afternoon. I feel like I need to disclose that I don't favor the percussion, they're just more accessible to shoot during rehearsals.

Amanda: Day 29. Listening.

From 2011 365 Project
San Benito, TX.

This weekend is Genesis Camp in San Benito. This is our percussion section leader David with Percussion Caption Head Dillon in the background. (And good job to David for wearing ear plugs! I wish I had done the same when I was younger so I could listen nowadays.)

Amanda: Day 27. A Work of Art.

From 2011 365 Project
Harlingen, TX.

I ate at a little restaurant in Harlingen for lunch today. All of the wall sections were seperate vignettes. During mid-meal, the artist came out to work on a new section. It was pretty neat to watch him work in action.

A new grain elevator being built outside Refugio.

Amanda: Day 24. Little Man. Big Job.

From 2011 365 Project
Pasadena, TX.

This is one of our tenor player's little brother. He decided to help us move equipment. Why he picked something bigger than him, I'll never know.

Amanda: Day 23. Bad Idea.

From 2011 365 Project
Pasadena, TX.

This is our indoor floor rolled up nice and neat. Usually the freshman someone who volunteers rolls across the floor to get the air out. I'm not sure this is really neccesary but it has become a tradition. Today, they tried a new tradition. Using the floor like a slip and slide.

From 2011 365 Project

It wasn't so successful.

Amanda: Day 22. In a Box.

From 2011 365 Project

We were painting the floor tonight for indoor and this little guy painted himself into a box...exactly like they weren't supposed to do.

From 2011 365 Project

This is the face that says "Please don't yell at me. I'm too cute. And this is funny...come on, you know it is." And guess what? It worked.

Amanda: Day 21. Downtown Htown.

I'm getting better!

Amanda: Day 20. Good Fortune.

From 2011 365 Project

I know it's super cheesy, but sometimes a fortune can make you ponder things.

Amanda: Day 19. Winter Sunset.

From 2011 365 Project
Bryan, TX.

I just can't resist a good sunset.

Amanda: Day 18. Sprinkles.

From 2011 365 Project

My mom and I went to see Spamalot tonight. Afterwards, we went for a post-theatre treat at Cold Stone Creamery. I can't resist sprinkle cones!
