Amanda: Day 31. Happy 70th x 2.

From Amanda's 365 Project

From Amanda's 365 Project

Today was my Aunt Rita and Uncle Reed's 70th Birthday party. They are my grandfather's twin brother and sister. Let me tell you, they are a hoot. The second picture is blurry, but the fist pump in the air is my Uncle Reed. He was excited to make it to 70 let me tell you.

one of my favorite glasses broke when it fell over on the marble countertop. Beautiful curves, though.

Photos from the last 2 weeks

I've been busy and away from my computer. I haven't given up-I've been taking pictures everyday-just didn't have time to upload them till now. Enjoy:

Day 31~"The Sun Eclipsed By The Clouds"

I thought that this was an unusual picture of the sun. It was taken in the afternoon on a very cloudy day.

We were painting the floor for our indoor show and someone must have missed the wet paint notice.

I spend WAY to much time here ... especially on this day! I didn't leave campus until 10 p.m. since I was working the girls basketball game that night ... sucked very much big time.

Stella heard some of her first Spanish today watching the first part of Che with me today (yes I do watch movies in other languages, lol) - the book this movie is based on is excellent by the way, highly recommended.

Day 30~"Yellow House"

This is a beautiful Victorian house that sits across from the church. I snapped this as we were leaving a funeral at our church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, TX. I will probably take pics of it at a later date.

Amanda: Day 29. The $11 Hamburger.

From Amanda's 365 Project

I've been trying to eat healthier this year and part of that has included less meat, less often. But sometimes you just get that craving for a big, fat, juicy hamburger and nothing else will do. And I mean nothing. I am a big follower of food blogs. In fact, 87.6% of my Google Reader is food blogs. I ran across a post this weekend that ranked burgers in Houston. The number one burger was from a steakhouse. A steakhouse serve a burger? Interesting. So I was having a rough day and decided to indulge myself. Usually I am a researcher before I try new restaurants, I look up reviews on at least two different places, search for a menu, look up prices. Today, I just went for it. I walked in and was taken aback, ALL the burgers were $11 and fries were extra. Holy crap, this better be worth it. I ordered the "Big Tex" which after choosing grain or grass fed beef, the ground meat was mixed with smoked brisket, perfectly seared on the outside and pink and juicy on the inside. Oh.My.Gosh. It was delicious. The fries were delish, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Perfectly salted and they either came with the lunch burger or I had an extra friendly waiter. :D The burger was served with fresh guacamole and pico on the side as well as balsamic vinegar tomatoes and pickles. OH! And they have their own brand of ketchup that's not your normal ketchup. So I think this is the most I have ever gone on about a burger, but I would not hesitate to go there again and pay $11 to try one of their different ones!

By the way, when I get a house again, I want these glasses as my drinking glasses. They will match my wine glasses. Now I just have to figure out where to buy them!

Day 29~"Getting Ready For Rodeo 2010"

I had to go into town today and I noticed that they were putting up the tents and stage at Cowboys Dancehall parking lot for the "Cowboy Breakfast" on Saturday morning to kickoff Rodeo Week in San Antonio. They have breakfast starting at 4:30 in the morning and it lasts until about 9:00 o'clock in the morning. It is usually very cold and this year it is also rainy. Yuk!

Amanda: Day 28. Rainy Fence.

From Amanda's 365 Project

I was trying to catch the raindrops trickle down the fence but alas, I'm not that skilled yet. I sat there for probably 10 minutes watching the run down the fence boards.

Kevin went to Austin today with co-workers to accept an award on behalf of the company he works for. He looks great in a suit, doncha think?

Day 28~"Beautiful Emily!"

This is my 16 year old niece that had a heart procedure today. She was born with a congenital heart defect that the doctors just found and were able to fix today. Does she look like someone who has just spent 3 hours in heart surgery through a double cath in both of her legs? She did beautifully and should have no more problems.

oh where is my water bottle

I lost my water bottle. I couldn't find it anywhere. Living with Erin there's not many places it could be. Finally, I found it in the back cushions of the couch....weird. I still haven't figured out how it got there.

Day 27~"Birds Behind Thin Layer of Clouds"

These birds were flying overhead just before sunset and it appeared as if they were high enough to be behind a layer of low-laying clouds but still visible from the ground. It is also a little blurry because of how fast they were flying.
