Amanda: Day 132. That's What I Like About Texas!

From Amanda's 365 Project

Driving through small towns, I can't help but get a craving for Dairy Queen. Tonight I decided to give into my urge, skip dinner and have a blizzard. Ohmygosh it was so delicious! And yes, they still turn them upside down. Good to know, right?!

Amanda: Day 131. Upgrade.

From Amanda's 365 Project

This is the new LaQuinta remodeled room. I asked for an upgrade because we are an "elite" member and usually I get a king size bed. However, they didn't have any and so the manager on duty said, "But I can put you in a two bedroom suite...if that's okay with you?" Ha, yes!!! So I got this ultra nice, super maxed out room. It actually really was two separate bedrooms, you know sometimes they say that and really it's just an extra big room separated by a desk. Nope, this was the real deal. And I slept like a princess in this bed in case you were wondering.

Amanda: Day 130. Time to Say Goodbye.

From Amanda's 365 Project

If I could add the Luciano Pavarotti song here, I would. This is my trusty camera I've had for over a year now. It's taken all of the pictures you have seen here. However on Saturday, I dropped it on the sand (with the lens out) and apparently made it very mad. The lens won't retract, therefore, it won't take any pictures. I'm at a loss. So for now, all my pictures will be coming from my phone. Unless someone has a camera they want to donate my way. :D

Amanda: Day 128. Man of War.

From Amanda's 365 Project

It's amazing what can happen by accident. This is a man of war (an extremely poisonous sea creature) which had washed up on shore. I was trying to get that perfect picture and my dad decided to pull out his pocket knife and play with it. I shot this picture and the flash went off. I was disappointed and kept shooting. However, when I looked at the picture on the computer, I was astonished. The flash added a totally different level to this picture. I LOVE IT!

Below is a collage of some of the other highlights. I couldn't choose...

So this isn't exactly a picture. It is the new logo for my indoor soccer team. I did help make it and that counts, right?

Day 132~"No Picture Today!"

From now on, when I miss a day for a picture, I am going to post a blank white page to remind me of my "shame!" LOL
It will also, actually keep my days straight too. Sorry, everyone!

Jenna. May 11. Climb every mountain.

Or, wash it.

This is a Before pic of my day. The ones on the left side are clean, but the ones on the right are definitely dirty and the ones in the dishwasher were clean and needing to be put away.

Also accomplished on The List today: cleaned the rest of the kitchen, mopped the floors, cleaned both bathrooms, changed sheets, and washed towels, sheets and 1 load of clothes.

I think tomorrow I'll rest.

Cooper was really asleep in this pic. I'm not sure if I could ever sleep like this.

Jenna. May 9. Happy Mother's Day to Me!

The kids who make me Mom.

All bathed, reading a book and ready for bed. The end to a great day, indeed.

Jenna. May 8. Up the hill...

...And down the hill! Today was Colby's & Kennedy's birthday party at Mt. Aggie (on the Texas A&M campus). A very fun time was had by all. Here are a few pics, but there was a lot of movement and no posing for pics!

Colby and Kevin sledding down - look at Colby's smile!

Kennedy hitched rides with Mr. Clay & Jeremiah, then begged for more. No fear, that girl.

And, here's Carlee hugging Ollie. This is the first time they've actually been sweet to each other. Usually they try to take each other's cups and pacifiers and then chase after each other...

Day 131~"Amanda's Explorer"

I didn't actually take this picture...Amanda did with my camera because her car is totaled and the insurance company is picking it up from my house. Goodbye Amanda's car...! :(

Happy GPOYW! Oh wait, it's Tuesday? That's much too early for me to be blurring my days together. So, anyway. This is me, set for some serious gaming: clean from an early shower and with a dorky headset.

We use these plates for our packed lunch. it makes cutting tomatos and avocadoes less messier. Also, a sammich on a plate is fancier than a sammich on a tupperware lid.

Jenna. May 7. Fitness Day.

Colby's school had Family Fitness Day today. The event began with a "1K" walk in the front of the school, complete with tape at the finish line for the runners to break through. Then there was a triathalon (a little run, a little tricycle race, and a jog through the sprinklers). The kids enjoyed the weights station - gallon milk jugs filled with beans that they could lift over their heads.

Kennedy enjoyed the aerobics time - there was a cute kids' aerobics DVD playing and all the kids and parents got to bust a move to some silly music. Carlee had fun running all over the church; she got her exercise and then took almost a 4 hour nap. Maybe we should have fitness day Every day.

I liked the obstacle course on the playground - hula hoops, ring hops, wheelbarrow, running around the trees, in and out of the bridge and down the slide to finish. The teachers were very creative and it was fun for all (even though it was 94 degrees outside!).

When all was finished, we had a picnic lunch in the front of the church. Colby received a medal with Hebrews 12:1 written on it: "let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us..."

Since there was so much movement, I took a lot of blurry pictures. But I liked this one because it summed up how we spent our hot day - getting re-hydrated. (Note the cute runner's number on the front of Colby's shirt.)

Jenna. May 6. Cookie Thief.

If you make chocolate chip cookies, be prepared to find this in your kitchen.

Although, she has to be the cutest Cookie Thief I ever saw.

Day 127~"Good Advice"

I saw this in the women's dorm at the retreat and decided that it was definitely TRUE! :)

Jenna. May 5. Cinco de Mayo.

The inside of our house is being painted this week. This is my bathroom, or Exhibit A. You'll notice a very bright green and a somewhat darker green color to the side. This is because the lighter green looked like a very good choice until the very bright 5 pm sun shone through the very bright and very large window in my bathroom. Then, my very good choice became "What in the HECK did I do to my walls?"

(By the way, I distinctly remember a girl in my dorm at A&M whose roommate painted their room this lime green color. She said it looked like the Muppets threw up in there. This girl was Mexican and she said the color was hideous, even to her Fiesta tastes.)

So, our very understanding painters gave me a sample of the darker green and that is what you see here. We will finish this out with brown framed mirrors and new light fixtures, hopefully next week.

I suppose I should give you Exhibit A (before). (In this pic I am standing about 3 steps to the right of where I took the green-on-green pic.)

Do you just love the wallpaper and the halogen light fixtures that left burn spots on my ceiling? I am so glad they are gone!

I'll keep you updated with pretty pictures when other rooms are finished. I cannot tell you how excited I am about all of this getting done.

Amanda: Day 126. Hopa!

From Amanda's 365 Project

Hopa! That's what you get when you cross hola with opa! Get it?! That's funny, right?! Well even if you didn't find it funny, that's what I thought when I saw this house today. The house is located in the middle of a country club community. What drew my attention to it was the backside. I saw it from across the resaca and figured it must have been the clubhouse because of all the statues and the sheer amount of white-ness. So I drove around to the front. Nope, not a clubhouse. A house surrounded by greek statues. It's almost a scene straight out of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." I guess if you can't go visit Greece, you can bring it to your front yard!

This was what originally caught my eye.

The seat of the dining room chairs. I wonder how long it will take me to re-cover them. Where's all this extra time I can't find? I need a time management class.

Amanda: Day 125. Workout Face.

From Amanda's 365 Project

It's not pretty, but it's the truth. I had planned to get back on track with GPOYW this week but I wanted something different. I've been working out now for the past two weeks on a consistent basis, meaning four times a week! Today, I did weights and then a ridiculous crazy class called BodyAttack, which might as well be a bootcamp class. I swear I burned 600 calories in there tonight. Afterwards, I felt like I just wanted to fall on the floor and die. Well maybe not die, but just lay there for about an hour. So this is my face after driving home, but before eating. Once again, I just wanted to sit down, not make my dinner. But rest assured, two hours later, post dinner and kick butt workouts, I'm feeling much better. Happy GPOYW everyone!
